gATO GOES: LEAVING BIARRITZ TO FAR OUT SURFAR LOCATIONs!
FRANCE NOV. 16
Driving all night Volkswagen
packed tight 7 test foils, 6 cameras and 3 hepcat hit the road south through centre espana. Madrid midi, cadiz and the straights by midnight. Early morning 6am aboard a ferry boat headed for the African continent. Quite a long senic venture.
RGK blazing the once gyped drawn trail insearch of foreign finds. Pero prepared to catch inspiring sight with his camera day or night. Bradford with guitar providing handmade sound and "along for the trip" catching pictures of his own. Spain's vast Geology looks like landscape painting flying past at 100Km. The color changes with the temputure as we reach Europe's gateway to Northern Africa. Surfar prototypes still stuck at customs, gato had to go, meeting up with chiz, Toshi from seakong and Nakamura Jr.& Sr. already at Surfar basecamp on the otherside of the straight.. The original registration was jammed behing the dashboard and African custom officals are quick to take a car. "Driving can be more like surfing for me than surfing". When the road is open and interesting terrain is never ending. Thats the freedom that Surfar hopes to represent. A sort of enigma, its not really about just surfing. its about living with surf. Thats why Surfar is so unique. Most surf travel stories in todays world are so progressive. World class surfers surfing freakwaves. like super heroes and fantasy lands. towing into monsters, or living boats locked outside of remote islands to catch to perfect boardshort selling photo. Surfar is quite surreal in the fact that we represent single fin evolution on a low non commercial frequency. The performance level is not completely out of the average surfers ability. Simple esthetics , trim speed + direction change avec casual style in even critical situations. We are a breed longboarder. Whether some admit it or not. Sure, we all want to be good surfers. Single fin surfing doesnt have the ability to keep up with the surf industries Bullet train of progressive athleticism and monthly line sheets with updated pipeline and tahiti movies of heroes drilling super holes for every drop. thats some futuristic shit man. Gato heroi therefore has nothing to prove. Its more of a feeling a mood. a wavelenght. A genre, a trip, we are on it. here it is SURFAR! Cats, dogs, boys and girls all aboard the Marrakesh express. hope all is well in California and all the bars, glad to be far far away. Staying far out, not to return until 2012 if it last that long. keep hosing down the edison plant, keep it cool at sano and trestles. Get ready SURFAR OZ is coming to bring aquatic creature like foils and planes down under! SURREAL SURF is next in line, with far out places 2012!
SPAIN'S ROMANCE LIES MOST ON THE OPEN ROAD photo Pero

France provided great test rides for JUNGLE ACID prototype no.1 We had perfect weather and conditions for 10 days . Thank you to Cedric from VIRAL SURF for housing the project while in france.
Viral is a major suplier of blanks and fiberglass in Europe . Gato Goes to FAROUT location soon to film for new gH movie DYNAMIC ENDEVOURS. . . Guns still in customs cant wait any longer gotta get goin.
Hopefully the rest of the prototypes find there way south soon. But until then we got JUNGLE ACID, a classic SLIVER, wider driver,POCKET JOY 7'4, and fresh PISTOLA prototype and pero's rainbow rider.
REPORT FOR THE FAROUT LOCATIONS: LOOKS GOOD.
PROTOTYPES: STUCK IN CUSTOMS
STATUS: SURFAR AHEAD SEE HERE SOON.
Leaving France, we stopped to discuss the trip with JB and Clovis from WALLAKO surfshop in Bidart. They might join us in the desert for SURFAR! filming . Clovis is intreasted in the CLASSIC SLIVER. His surfing looks towards Phil Edwards and Cody Simpkins with classic Joel elements. Clovis classic longboard aproach would compliment the SLIVER well, and key to have a goofy Wallako will recieve a few of the used prototype boards and be taking orders for Rk's return to France early march.

PSYHCEDELIC SUNSET AFAR!
SURFAR! currently taking place in FRANCE avec RARE indian summer conditions so far!
Perfect head high offshore conditions act as perfect test fields for new foils .
Classic gato Heroi sliver worked well in softer offshore conditions, like a hot rod log , low rocker and knifed rails penetranted the stiff morning wind and high tides.
The JUNGLE ACID prototype no.1
had the basic essentials for the overhead days. Providing carving properties, and a critical floatation
level bridging transitional era surfing with moderrn longboarding.
"The two boards had an amazing amount of similarities . The Sliver shape and jungle board together proved to be a key combination for riding waves from waist high to overhead. the common factor between the sessions so far would be
would be that the wind has stayed offshore every session. The slivers low rocker and knifed rails can be a problem in choppy conditions. The jungle acid's vee entry helped me backside with the side offshore chop, displacing the negative energy off the bow . . ." says Rgk gato Heroi shaper commenting on the recent trip out in FRANCE .

JUNGLE ACID PROTOTYPE no.1-
Just as suspected , the new model felt extremely loose rail to rail on the more flat faced waves. Typicaly Gato models feature a unique rolled bottom with slight crowned vee. Jungle acid features a more straightend leading vee bottom making for more acceleration from the fin and more critical direction change
